About Reggie Ford
New Orleans artist Reggie Ford grew up hopping the street cars running the streets of the French quarters and finding the hidden treasures of his magical city.
As a youth, Reggie started drawing in the 3rd grade but the instant he picked up a paint brush at age 14 he discovered what would become his life long passion for painting. By adulthood, Reggie had become a new age Renaissance man as he simultaneously created his signature works of art and actively pursued a semi-pro football career and work full time at Pat O'Brien's bar and restaurant.
August 29, 2005 marked a pivotal moment in Reggie life as hurricane Katrina ravaged his city as did many other 9th ward natives he evacuated to Houston following the storm. Displaced in Houston Ford tirelessly sharpened his skills in painting while waiting for Katrina's flood waters to be drained for his home city of New Orleans.
In March 2006 Ford happily returned to New Orleans where he pursued his career as in full time artist at Dutch Alley Artists Co-op. In the 1st year of his professional career Reggie popularity grew exponentially as he was featured in many newspapers, magazine articles and made numerous TV appearances.
His credit include traveling nationally doing ambassador work after hurricane Katrina where he would help to recruit company convention groups to pick New Orleans as their next convention destination spot where he would paint live at national conventions such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Microsoft national conventions and many other fortune 500 company events that fill the New Orleans convention center weekly.
Reggie was also chosen to paint Christmas ornament for the White House Christmas tree where he and other artists from around the nation were honored at a White House Christmas Lunch. Since the pandemic 2020 Reggie has become a philanthropist and community activist volunteering his time help lead the Redevelopment of Lincoln Beach a beachfront property owned by the city of New Orleans close since the inner segregation and scheduled to be reopened 2027.
The spirit of New Orleans is alive in Reggie Ford as it flows from his brush to his paintings into the hearts of those who see his works. Experience the magic for yourself by visiting Jackson Square at the corner of St.Ann and Dumaine Street every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm or book him to paint live at your next event.
